| " Successors to steam " Two of the Western region's new diesels sit outside the works at Swindon in 1962, as an unkempt "Castle" class 4-6-0 steams by with a freight. Both the Hymeks, and Warships were not incredibly successful, both classes being withdrawn in the 1970s. Painted in 1997, and specially to show D832 "Onslaught" which was, and still is , in 2007 based at the East Lancs Railway, where I ve had many a pleasant day manning my exhibition stand ! |
